Refugee Hygiene and Sanitation

Since Russia invaded Ukraine, an estimated 660,000 people have fled to neighboring countries. That figure is expected to climb as refugees pour into Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova.

Many refugees may be deprived of basic health and medical necessities such as food, clean water, hygiene supplies, and medication. Refugees may not have access to these supplies if they live in harsh circumstances, like walking for days on the road or sitting in a vehicle.

Three Disasters at Once

When Russia invaded, Ukraine was already dealing with two public health disasters, the first was caused by the COVID pandemic. Furthermore, the nation has been facing a polio outbreak since October 2021 due to insufficient immunization rates. Traveling in big crowds without masks or social distancing, drinking contaminated water, or coming into contact with an ill person could result in disease epidemics among refugees.

Supplies for Support

E-First Aid Supplies has teamed up with other Rochester based companies to provide refugees with relief. Our contribution to this effort was 1,000 personal fist aid kits for individuals that are living in refugee camps. Soldiers, wounded, and displaced people will benefit from the wide range of items included in each box. Thousands of compact first-aid kits are packed with materials like gauze and tourniquets for the injured, as well as pain relief medication and emergency blankets to keep those in need comfortable.
